Energy and Resource Performance

  • The electricity consumed for producing every foundry wafer was 0.698(MWH/WAFER) in 2016, lower than 3.7% in 2015.
  • The gas consumed for producing every foundry wafer was 0.7544(NM3/WAFER) in 2016, lower than 0.34% in 2015.
  • The water consumed for producing every foundry wafer was 3.4ton in 2016, higher more than 3% in 2015.
  • The CO2 emissions for producing every unit of foundry wafer were 427kg in 2016, lower than 0.46% in 2015.

Waste Reduction and resourceful Performance

Management policies for the effective reuse of resources and proper waste treatment in Powerchip consist of industrial waste reduction and sustainable use of resources to be the main treatment method.

  • In 2016, the cost of recycling foundry wafer products dropped by 38.5% as compared with that of 2015 due to the decrease in the recycling price.
  • In 2016, the amount of hazardous waste generated per unit foundry wafer was 2.2KG / piece, representing a decrease of 0.12% over 2015.
  • Overall waste recovery in 2016 was 76.6%, a decrease of 2.2% from 2015.
  • Total waste generated in 2016 was 11,821 tonnes (excluding resource recovery), representing a decrease of 4% as compared with 2015.

Water resource management performance
